Canada announced the lifting of sanctions against Belarus


The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Canada announced that Ottawa plans to lift sanctions against Belarus, introduced in December 2006.

It is noted that the restrictions will be removed “in response to recent positive developments in Belarus.” The foreign Ministry said that this decision is consistent with similar measures adopted by the USA and the European Union in 2015.

“Foreign Affairs Canada will initiate regulatory proceedings on the question of removal of Belarus from the List of regulated areas”, – noted in Department.
