The Kenyan authorities decided to close the largest refugee camp


The government of Kenya announced the decision to close all refugee camps in the country.

As stated by the representative of the interior Ministry of Kenya Karanja, Kibito, there are several reasons. Among the main economic — supporting the refugees is becoming too expensive for the state. Also, the government believe that camp increase the terrorist threat in the country amid increased militant Islamist group Al-Shabab.

Thus will be closed and the largest camp of Dadaab, it only contains about 300 thousand people. All the same, the street will be about 600 thousand people. The majority of refugees in Kenya from civil war-torn Somalia.
