Russia and Israel closer together Sabantuy

In our time, difficult inter-state relations are increasingly talking about the so-called “public diplomacy,” cultural exchange and other ways to “build bridges” between different Nations and countries. One of the brightest events of this kind was held in Israel on may 6, international Sabantui – Tatar-Bashkir holiday marking the end of spring field work. In Russia it has already become an integral part of the multinational culture of the country, came to the Federal level and it is celebrated in many regions. The third year it is celebrated in Europe, and now, finally, he came to the middle East.

“Of course, is a kind of provocation to spend a feast in Israel, but still giving it international status, – said on the eve of the event one of its organizers, chief editor of the Internet portal “Russia for all”, Radik AMIROV. – Earlier, Sabantui was carried out by local communities. I said, why do we, as a national holiday is held sufficiently over the world – Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, Sweden, USA. To this I answer that. The Tatars and Bashkirs, as well as immigrants from many republics of Russia, CIS countries, familiar with the traditions of our people living today in Israel are waiting for us on a General holiday. Several thousand Tatars and the Bashkir, representatives of other Turkic peoples will remember their roots, trying to preserve and increase the traditions of their peoples”.

Sabantuy was held in the city of Rishon-LeZion, where the majority of the Tatar community of the country. This year was also chosen by chance: in 2016, the 10 years anniversary of Tatar cultural center of Israel, which became the organizer of the festival, and 20 years – the Russian Jewish Congress (RJC), with the support of which hosted the event.

For RIVERS Sabantuy in Rishon-Le-Zion – not the first experience of cooperation both with the Muslim community and Israel. So, in November last year at the invitation of left-wing and right-wing Israeli politicians organized a press-tour for journalists-Muslims, representing the leading Russian media. The trip made an impression in the Islamic environment and has become one of the most notable events in the Muslim community of Russia in 2015.

“Sabantui is a holiday my dear, – says the head of the RIVERS Yuri Kanner. – I lived and worked in Siberia, our farm was a real international, and the Sabantuy was not less important than the New Year. All gathered and everybody knew how to celebrate.” In Russia and in Europe Sabantuy is celebrated more often in the summer or at the end of may, however, jokingly said Yuri Kanner, in Israel, agricultural work is over each evening, so you can celebrate every day. The same can be said about the holiday in Israel, where now is the summer weather, and the beaches – including, and in Rishon-LeZion – a lot of tourists.

As you know, Israel represents a genuine mosaic at the crossroads of ancient and modern, of various cultures and faiths.

In this regard, and the choice of this country as a venue for international holiday seems quite logical. As the past few days earlier in Jerusalem “Marszalkowska reading” Sabantuy in Rishon-Le-Zion was aimed at fostering intercultural relations of different peoples. “We value inter-ethnic peace in Russia and do everything to the traditions of the peoples of our country had development not only in our country but also far beyond its borders. For example, here in Israel,” said Yuri Kanner.

“This event should be an example for other Nations and this is a great initiative,” sure and Israeli politician, Knesset member Ksenia Svetlova, who visited the occasion. She recalled that on the day of Sabantui in Rishon-LeZion, in another Israeli city of Haifa – was the parade “Immortal regiment”. “All this testifies to the preservation and multiplication of cultural relations between the peoples of Israel and Russia”, – said the Deputy.

In addition to performances of officials, guests expect Tatar folk songs performed by laureate of Agapovskogo festival, singer, Gulseren Abdullina, refreshments Tatar sweets and traditional running races in sacks and tug of war.
