NATO will fight the “resurgent Russia”

New allied commander of NATO in Europe, us General Curtis, Scaparrotti urged members of the Alliance to be ready to fight against a “resurgent Russia.” Among other threats to NATO countries, he called terrorism and immigration crisis.

New commander said that NATO now faces a “resurgent Russia, which seek to show themselves as a world power”. Among other problems for the Alliance, he called terrorism and migration crisis caused by the instability in North Africa and the middle East.

“To solve these problems, we must continue to maintain and improve our level of preparedness and our mobility to be able to join the fight now, if that doesn’t work, the policy of containment,” he said, Scaperotti the press service of the Pentagon.

For his part, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the Alliance has entered a “new era of uncertainty”, with “serious and persistent problems in the Eastern and southern flanks”.

Recall that defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Wednesday on a conference call in the defense Ministry that until the end of 2016 in the Russian army there will be three new divisions: two will be formed in the Western military district, one in the southern military district. This will be a response to the buildup of NATO forces close to Russian borders.
