Yabloko is going to defend the wall Choi

“Hands off the wall Choi!” – with such a loud statement was made by the leader of the Moscow Yabloko Sergei Mitrokhin in response to the invitation of municipal deputies of the Arbat district to paint a wall for a year became one of the legendary characters of the streets of the capital.

The head of the municipal district “Arbat” Eugene Babenko said in an interview with city TV station that he and his colleagues will ensure that Tsoi wall was eventually painted over. Eugene Babenko has repeatedly complained that the wall has long attracted various marginal. At a recent meeting of the Commission on culture of the Moscow city Duma he basically said that many people come here to piss, shoot up or have sex, which creates serious inconveniences for local residents. Now, however, he said that, because the Arbat – street of Federal significance, and the “wall of Tsoi on the Arbat should not be”. He also added that even if the wall to make a monument (and with that sentence, by the way, for the same Committee was made by the Deputy MHD Anton Paleev), all these outrages will continue: “This monument will be painted by those who is going there”.

Eugene Babenko insists that the wall must be transferred to another point on the map of Moscow. For example, Luzhnetsky on the waterfront – in fact the last concert Tsoi was in the sports complex “Luzhniki”.

However, members of opposition parties were quick to respond to this statement. As reported in his statement Sergei Mitrokhin, “recently, the Moscow authorities deliberately destroy objects of cultural and historical heritage”, and also persecuted artists and street musicians in the city. Meanwhile, the wall Tsoi became a cult place for hundreds of thousands of fans of his work. “Arbat is gradually becoming out of place, attracts Muscovites and tourists to the prevailing street culture, mundane and boring, but no “Wall of Tsoi” will lose its cultural appeal. It seems that a reminder about an outstanding bard is haunted by those officials whose aesthetic tastes demand to cover all of Moscow’s public space ugly kitsch”, – Mitrokhin continues. And comes to the conclusion that the elimination of the wall “will lead to a cultural failure in the memory of youth, when times”. In the end, the party members demand from the Moscow Department of culture and the mayor to abandon plans for such destruction.

Meanwhile, as found “MK”, not every young people are among the Tsoi wall with reverence. So, as stated to us by an artist from the Studio of artistic design “Art attacks”, “no value in those labels, just dirt. And it is unlikely there is an old historic inscriptions, there are always drunkards going. I have this wall called the live for the occasion. During the year, it is updated gradually.
