Sentencing of Victor bout, the judge ruled the verdict inadequate

Former Federal judge Shira scheindlin United States after the resignation of said one of the biggest of its processes — the case of Russian citizen Viktor bout, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison on charges of arms trade. Four years later, scheindlin admitted that the sentence was excessively cruel and inadequate.

In an interview with The New York Times, the former judge said that Booth, in her opinion, certainly was the arms dealer, however, by the time of his arrest already almost retired. According to Sheindlin, the Booth primarily was a businessman, not a militant al-Qaida, dreaming to undermine people in the supermarket.

In an interview with the former judge noted that the booth offered a lot of money and deception was roped into the enterprise. At the same 25-year period — the minimum penalty, to which Sheindlin could be sentenced Russian.

The verdict of the bout was announced four years ago. He was convicted of trying to sell weapons to Colombian rebels, which the US considers terrorists. The guilt the Russians did not recognize. In the US, the Bout was taken from Thailand, where he was arrested in 2008 at the request of U.S. authorities.

The wife of Viktor bout Alla in an interview with RIA Novosti said that in his interview, the former judge actually recognized her husband fabricated by us intelligence services.
