Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree closed, in which the title of Hero of Russia was awarded to some high-ranking security officials. In particular, for organizing operations in Syria awarded to Deputy defense Minister Dmitry Bulgakov and head of the General staff Valery Gerasimov.

Gerasimov was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation for the planning and implementation of the operation of Russia’s air strikes against militants in Syria. In turn, Bulgakov, meeting in the Ministry of defence for logistics, received the Gold Star for organizing the supply of Russian military personnel stationed on the base of Hamim.
Posthumously the title of Hero of Russia was awarded to the former chief of the Main intelligence Directorate of the General staff Igor Sergun, who died in early January 2016.
Earlier for participation in the Syrian operation the title of Hero of Russia was awarded six military personnel: chief of staff Central military district Alexander Dvornikova, scout Vadim Bikulov, senior Navigator-tester 929 th glits Viktor Romanov, the Deputy commander of the aviation squadron of the 47th mixed aviation regiment of the 105th guards mixed air division of the 6th army of VVS and PVO Andrey Dyachenko.
Posthumously were awarded the commander of the su-24 bomber Oleg Peshkov, whose plane was shot down by Turkish fighter jets, as well as senior Lieutenant Alexander Prokhorenko, who during the assault of the Syrian Palmyra was surrounded by the militants and caused the fire itself.Related posts:
