Scientists: planet X will destroy the Solar system

The ninth planet orbiting the Sun, the existence of which has only recently been theoretically proved, continues to be in the center of a variety of bold theories of astrophysicists. In the new study, a team of scientists from Spain and Britain came to the conclusion that planet X, as it is sometimes called, can contribute to the destruction of the Solar system, i.e. the disappearance of her rather large cosmic bodies.

Experts presented their work on the website of preprints arXiv.org assume that some TRANS-Neptunian objects (bodies, the average distance from the Sun is greater than Neptune’s) can be a few tens of millions years old ejected beyond the Solar system under the influence of gravity “planet X”. According to scientists, its effects can get dwarf planet, as VN112 2004, 2007 and 2013 TG422 RF98 — the diameter of each is from 100 to 300 kilometers.

In mid-January of the current year astrophysics Michael brown and Konstantin Batygin, representing the California Institute of technology, stated that, according to analysed data, in the Solar system, there might be a ninth planet, which, most likely, is a gas giant. Further calculations showed that it is about 10 times heavier than Earth and has a 2-4 times larger diameter than our planet, and the period of its rotation around the Sun, according to various estimates, from 15 to 20 million years. Recently a group of researchers from the Harvard-Smithsonian center were able to accurately name the part of the sky where the mysterious planet should look for: according to experts, it should be in the constellation of the whale.

Among the bold theories about “planet X”, put forward by earlier scholars, one can recall the assumption of a group of astronomers from France and Sweden, that originally it was formed in orbit of another star, and only then began to rotate around the Sun, it is enough when approached, to capture their own gravitational field. Even more sensational recently was the assumption that the ninth planet’s own gravity directs 27 million years to Earth of the comet from the Kuiper belt, which in the past have caused mass extinctions on the planet, and in the future can threaten people.
