The melting of glaciers can shift the Earth’s axis


A team of U.S. geologists under the leadership of Amanda Lu from Washington University in St. Louis in the course of studying the results of seismographic observations in the period from 2010 to 2011, has found yet another cause of rapid melting of glaciers in Antarctica. The work of specialists was carried out in the framework of the project POLENET/ANET, whose main purpose was to create a three-dimensional map of the ice of Antarctica, located in the Western part of the continent, using natural seismic vibrations…
