The element of the periodic table proposed to name in honor of the Moscow region


Synthesized new chemical elements that must become the 119th and 120th in the periodic table, can have the title of Moscovy in honor of the Moscow region and Ohaneze and the honor academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yuri Oganesyan. The proposal was made by the joint Institute for nuclear research.

The proposal of the Russian scientists , will be submitted to the International Union of pure and applied chemistry, according to the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation. 119 and 120 of the elements must be the first elements of the eighth period, but not yet officially confirmed information about their receipt was not made public.

Yuri Hovhannisyan is the scientific Director of the laboratory of nuclear reactions JINR and one of the authors of discoveries 104-107 elements of the periodic table. In the suburbs, or rather, Dubna, experiments were carried out, resulted in the discovery of many elements.

The joint Institute for nuclear research, nine of the seventeen synthesized new chemical elements (with 102 of 118 rooms in the periodic table), which added Periodic system of chemical elements for 50 years, including six most difficult one. All artificially produced elements having an atomic number of 93 or more — in natural conditions on Earth, they are not formed.

113,115, 117 and 118 elements have been added to the periodic table recently, and in the near future they should also get the names (before their “working” names are ountry, ununpentium, ununseptium and ununoctium. Specialists voiced information that moskoviem can be named element 117.
