Poroshenko explained the meaning of his words on New York Times


The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on his page in Facebook reported that its words about the New York Times were incorrectly understood.

Recall that in this newspaper published a critical article about engulfed Ukraine corruption, and Poroshenko called “a product of the old system” whose hands are tied by separatists in the East and chaos in Kiev and has accepted the corruption for the sake of space. In the article also mentioned, the IMF and the USA will no longer throw money at it “corrupt swamp”. Petro Poroshenko, commenting on this article, stated “hybrid war” that was deployed against Ukraine, including in the media.

Now, the Ukrainian leader said that he was sorry that his words about “publishing in a respectable New York Times have been misinterpreted”. He hastened to assure that he reads this publication and respects the position of its editorial Board. He agreed that much remains to be done to overcome corruption, but stressed that the first steps have already been taken and that he will continue to defend Ukraine at all sites.
