It lasted from February 2015, when Carter assumed the post of Minister of defense until mid-December of last year – that’s when the first reports appeared about the “private-office” emails Carter, and he stopped the practice and apologized. Then he criticized the Chairman of the Senate Committee on armed services John McCain.
