On Monday evening the President of Russia Vladimir Putin ordered the Minister of defense Sergei Shoigu Tuesday to begin withdrawing Russian troops from Syria. This was announced at a meeting of the President with Shoigu and foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

The head of state said that the objectives of the Ministry of defense in Syria, in particular, managed to turn the tide in the fight against international terrorism. I hope that this will significantly raise the trust of all stakeholders,” he said.
At the same time, Russian paras in Tartous and on the basis Hamim should continue to work as usual. “They should be protected from land, sea and air,” said Putin, adding that of the remaining military will be engaged in control over observance of the ceasefire.
