Society of astrophysics from the max Planck in Germany and the McMaster University in Canada have proposed a new way to search for alien civilizations on the condition of their existence. This was reported on the website of the Company.
Scientists thought about how an alien civilization might seek, in the case of the presence of the representatives of the intelligent inhabitants around other stars. According to astrophysicists, they can do it the same way looking for them.
A common way of searching for exoplanets, used by man, is only to observe the transit (passage) of a celestial body across the disk of its star. This leads to the last change of brightness, which allows scientists to interpret this as the existence of exoplanets.
Astrophysicists have theorized that the same way an alien civilization can search other sentient inhabitants of the galaxy. Scientists suggest to concentrate on a selected area of sky from which aliens will be most convenient to observe the transit of the Earth across the solar disk (the Ecliptic plane). This leads to the observation of one two thousandth of the celestial sphere.
Also scientists have compiled a list of the 82 stars located in the plane of the Ecliptic, the conditions around which can be favorable to sustain life earth-like. These data, according to astronomers, may be useful for SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) project on search of extraterrestrial civilizations.
