“The lifting of sanctions, Russia promises a surge of trade with Iran”

Nuclear reactors, gas turbine engines, power plants, feed, grain and dozens of other products ready to offer Iran Russia. The possibility to sharply intensify mutual trade will occur immediately after it is implemented reached agreement on the removal from Iran of international sanctions.

“Our economic ties, of course, will receive additional impetus, because it will be eliminated the restrictions that Western partners have imposed through unilateral and illegitimate sanctions against Iran, and will eliminate the situation where the attempts of the USA and the European Union to apply its unilateral sanctions extraterritorially really hurt our companies, including to carry out their financial transactions and to implement other of its projects together with the Iranian partners,” said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Russia and Iran have agreed to discuss joint projects and increased trade. In particular, the negotiations will be held in the sphere of purchases of fish, seafood and poultry. Partners to talk about the extension of the list of goods in mutual trade. In particular, Russia interesting Iranian fish, shrimp, chicken, turkeys and quails.

On the other hand, Tehran also has an interest and the supply of Russian food. For example, the Russian grain takes between 10-20% of Iran’s imports, annually, the country imports of 5-7 million tons of Russian grain. Iran is interested in our feed, cornmeal, corn, barley, food wheat.

As for the joint projects, we are talking about “the construction of nuclear power plants, electrification of Railways, construction of elevators, repair of power stations, develop oil and gas fields”, said the Ministry.

According to the Agency, Iran will be interested in all Russian goods related to heavy engineering and infrastructure projects in sectors such as Railways, aviation, construction equipment, heavy and medium trucks, electricity transmission, electricity generation, storage of grain, shipbuilding.

In particular, the Ministry of industry and trade of the Russian Federation said that Moscow and Tehran are negotiating not only on direct supply, but also discuss about the establishment in Iran of joint ventures for production of cars, agricultural and road construction equipment. The negotiations are not only with the Iranian consumers, but also with ministries and agencies of Iran, added the Agency.

Russian Railways, who continued to work with Iran and the sanctions were electrified 50 kilometers of Railways in the country, ready to continue to work with Iran for the electrification of Railways and infrastructure development. Last year the volume of contracts of Russian Railways and railway electrification in Iran was estimated at 8.4 billion euros (they will be about 5,6 thousand km of Railways). Now it will make it easier after removing the sanctions against the country, said President of RZD Vladimir Yakunin.
