“In the state Duma asked a Seagull to accept unwanted TripAdvizor organization over the Crimea”

The Deputy of the state Duma from fraction “Fair Russia” Oleg Mikheyev has appealed to Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika with a complaint against a travel Internet service TripAdvizor. The Deputy noticed that the Crimea is Ukraine, not Russia.

On this basis, the Deputy, according to TASS, the Agency proposes to consider the possibility of recognizing TripAdvizor undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation an organization, as the idea that territorial affiliation of the Crimea in the app can be used “in political struggle”.

He considers the attribution of the Peninsula “contrary to the interests of Russia’s position” and asked the Prosecutor’s office to improve the legislation on undesirable organizations, based on past experience.

Mikheyev reminded that it was after his conversion to a Seagull there was a scandal around the company Coca-Cola, depicting Crimea belonging to Ukraine (a similar claim due to the map changes made subsequently, and Ukraine itself).

Recall that TripAdvizor is the most popular travel app in the world. It collects reviews from travellers about hotels, restaurants and attractions and is building on this basis, the overall rating of a place.

Currently the app is available in 47 countries (there is also a website), and users are left in it for more than 250 million reviews. How the activity TripAdvizor may be declared undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation and what are the implications of this result, Mikheyev said no.

By itself, the law on undesirable organizations implies a ban their activities in Russia as threatening to the constitutional order and security of the country.
