In the study involved 1 158 physically and mentally healthy students of Chinese origin. To check how each of them impatient, the researchers offered participants the choice to receive $ 100 immediately or a larger amount later. Those who chose the first option, were declared to be “impatient” reports indiatimes.com.

Then experts have found, what is the length of the telomeres of white blood cells in participants. Telomeres – parts of chromosomes that protect DNA from damage and is reduced after each cell division. If the telomeres become too small, the cell can no longer divide. Thus, in older people the telomeres are usually shorter than the young, due to which their length is an indicator of aging at the cellular level.

As it turned out, impatience had no effect on telomere length of the participants-young men. In this case, the impatient girls, the telomeres were slightly shorter than the rest.

The results did not change after scientists rechecked them, taking into account the possible impact of the characteristics of the organism, lifestyle, and other factors.

According to the researchers, who published their study in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, is to find signs of a connection between the impatience of women and aging, experts managed for the first time.
